Gulf Shores

We recently took our first full-blown family vacation.  One full week in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the beach and all!  I was a little apprehensive about taking 3 kids 5 and under to the beach, but it ended up being a very enjoyable vacation!  We went with my cousin/best friend Megan and her husband Eric and two kids, Emma and Scarlett.  Emma is two and plays really well with Levi and Mallory.  Scarlett is 7 months old and such a sweet baby.  We barely heard a peep out of her!

The kids absolutely LOVED the beach, but Mallory was a little afraid of the water.  We made sand castles, walked the beach, and looked for sea shells.  We even turned Mallory into a mermaid in the sand and buried daddy.  I forgot how much fun the beach can be! :)

Other than hanging out at the beach and playing around at the condo, we didn't do much else.  We did take a day trip to Pensacola, Florida to see the National Naval Aviation Museum and it was amazing!  It had so many cool airplanes and historical memorabilia and we had such a great time learning and exploring!  While in Pensacola, we rode the "360" which is a huge ferris wheel with enclosed gondola's that were air conditioned.  It was a great way to get a beautiful view of the Gulf!

I took a ton of pictures, but I will showcase some of my favorites here! :)

Holiday World 2012!

Holiday World 2012, what can I say?  This is our second time to go to Holiday World and just like last year, we had a blast!  It is so much fun letting the kids do whatever they want and Scott and I feel like kids ourselves.  Sadly, though, we did leave Harper at home with Mee-Maw and Grom.  Even though I missed her terribly, it was nice to be able to give our full attention to Levi and Mallory.

We stayed in the same cabin that we did last year and spent two days at Holiday World.  Usually we spend the first part of the day at the amusement park and the second part of the day at the water park.  We were worried it would rain on us, but it didn't.  It did get a little cold the first day once we went in the water park, but it didn't seem to phase the kiddo's.  They had such a good time.  Levi was able to ride more rides and Mallory too.  However, Mallory was 35.5" and you had to be 36" to ride most of the rides.  :(  I felt so bad for her and I was bummed because she barely missed it.  I made sure that she wore tennis shoes in hopes that it would make up for the missing inches, but it didn't work.  I even tried to put toilet paper in her shoes.  That didn't work either.  :(  Oh well.  She was a good sport about it.  In fact, I think I was more upset about it than she was!  Although, she probably didn't realize what she was missing out on.  Well, there's always next year!

I was able to enjoy Holiday World much more this year than last year, seeing as how I was 5 months pregnant last year.  I love water rides!!  Levi and I got to ride the log flumes and an inter tube ride, but that was about it.  Levi wasn't able to ride very many water rides because you had to be 42" without your shoes on...Levi is 42" WITH his shoes on.  :(  Oh well, there's always next year!

 Hanging out on the porch.

The kids LOVE fishing off the back deck.

Levi is a pro!  He can cast, catch, and reel in all by himself!
