Mallory's 3rd birthday was way back in August! I know I am really bad about keeping up with this blog! Here it is October (just past Harper's birthday) and I'm just now getting around to posting about Mallory's birthday! Yikes!
Mallory's birthday was so much fun! I debated for so long as to what to do for her. August is so incredibly hot, so I didn't want to do anything outside. I wasn't really in the mood to have a huge party at our house, but she's at the age where she wants all of her friends to come to her party. I was so worried about what to do and time was just ticking away. I finally came up with the tea party idea and it turned out to be fabulous! I told Mallory she could pick 3 friends to come to her tea party and she chose her cousins Izzy and Emma and her friend from MOPS, Penny. There were a few others on her list, but we had to narrow it down. I wanted it VERY small and inexpensive!!! Thankfully everything we used came from my mom's house! I borrowed some of her fancy dress up clothes and she literally has ALL things "tea party" right down to tiny silver spoons and sugar cubes! The girls had so much fun!
The party started with tea of course and they had cucumber sandwiches, pretzels, fruit, and little cookies to go with their tea. I think they felt really grown up when they got to drink their tea from real tea cups and I have no idea how many sugar cubes they went through, but they were completely gone by the end of the day! After that the girls decorated tiara's and played dress up. They even got to put make-up on!
It was so much fun having such a girly party! I had forgotten how much fun it is to have a real tea party! It was such an easy, laid-back kind of party and I wasn't stressed and actually was able to ENJOY myself!
Since Mallory was only allowed to invite 3 friends, we opted to have a small birthday dinner for her with family. We had a Strawberry Shortcake cake, sang happy birthday, and she got to open some presents. Overall her birthday was a great success!!
I can't believe my little girl is 3 years old! Wow, it really goes fast. She went from being a sweet, teeny-tiny little baby who RARELY cried, to this tall, still tiny, little girl who is smart, loving, sassy, and a little bit goofy! She loves to dance around and play girly things. Hair and make-up are one of her favorite things to play. Everywhere we go she has to bring either a purse or a doll/animal. And I love that anytime she and I are wearing the same color or the same type of shoes she will notice and make a comment. "Mommy look we match!" or sometimes it's "Look Mommy, we are twins!" Aww, makes my heart melt every time! Once when we were driving Levi to school, they were talking about what they wanted to be when they grow up and Levi wanted to be a mailman and Mallory said she wanted to be a mommy just like me. I hope I can live up to her admiration and provide a good example for her. It's amazing how much they learn from us and look to us for guidance. I pray everyday that I can be the best mommy that I can! It's a tough job and I know I'll never be perfect, but I can never give up!

Mallory and her friends enjoying their tea party! They had tea, cucumber sandwiches, fruit, pretzels, and little cookies! Izzy was worried about spilling, so she opted for a sippy cup. :) So sweet! |

After the tea party it was time for make-up! Emma's getting help from her mommy with the lipstick. |

Izzy was never much for make-up until this very moment! Once she started putting it on she didn't want to stop - literally! |

This is Mallory's friend Penny. She loves all things girly, just like Mal. No wonder they are such good friends! |

She looks a little like a brunette Alice in Wonderland! But that is a Cinderella dress. :) |
