It's PARTY Time!!

On Sunday, we celebrated Levi's 1st birthday by having our closest family over. As much as I wanted to throw the biggest party ever for my little boy's first birthday, I decided to hold back and have a small dinner get together. It turned out perfect and everyone had a great time!!

I am quite proud to say that I made Levi's birthday cake. At first I was very nervous and didn't want to mess up such an important cake. I have never decorated a cake before, so this was new to me. I'm surprised at how nice it actually turned out!!

Before the guests arrived, we decided to do a little family photo shoot to capture the fun of the day!! He was in such a good mood!! :)

Levi got LOTS of fun new toys!! He loved everything he got and will be sure to keep him occupied for a while now! ;) He loves the walk-behind wagon and he caught on quickly!

After our fun with new toys, we sang "Happy Birthday" and he ate some of his cake!! He had alot of fun playing with it and he ate a few bites, too. It was fun for Levi!! This first picture is hilarious!! He's seems to be deep in thought wondering what he's supposed to do! lol

Here's Levi playing with his Grandma McInerny and cousin Ivy. He's showing them his new toys. ;)

And the evening would not be complete without a BATH!!! After all that sticky cake and frosting a bath was much needed! But what a FUN day!!!

Happy 1st Birthday, Levi!!

Levi's first birthday was on Saturday, November 29, 2008. We woke up and played in the morning and then headed off to Lafayette, IN for a family Thanksgiving dinner. We enjoyed wonderful food and fellowship! Later that night, we stopped by Toys R Us to look at car seats. The one we have for him now seems to be pretty uncomfortable. On the ride to and from Lafayette, he woke up from a nap screaming. I think maybe his neck hurt or something. Not sure, but anyway, his car seat just doesn't look comfortable to me, so we are looking for another one, maybe. ;) Other than that, the day was pretty uneventful, but still a joyous day! :) Here are some pics to document his birthday!

Levi's First Haircut!

Yesterday Levi embarked on an incredible journey and came out victorious!! Off to Clubhouse Cuts for Kids we went....they were closed. :( So, it's off to Cookie Cutters we went! They were open! :) When we first arrived I was full of butterflies of both excitement and apprehension. I didn't want my baby to look like a man or a soldier!! Thankfully, the nice lady that cut his hair didn't mind the detailed instructions that I gave. ;) However, Levi was a little worried as to what was going on and was reaching for me the second we walked in the door. I think the little boy in the chair screaming his head off and his daddy telling him "no, be good" scared him just a wee bit. In fact, it scared me a little too! Fortunately for us, he got the tractor chair AND Wheel of Fortune was on!! As we sat him in the chair, he was excited to sit on the tractor and mommy was very, very nervous. This is my son's first haircut!! With camera in hand, the lady wet his hair and started to comb and cut. He sat there like a champ! Every now and then I would get a look that seemed to say "what in the world is she doing??" He did such a great job and didn't cry, scream, or fight one bit!! Supposedly that is a huge deal for first haircuts. Most boys scream through their first cut!

After the haircut, I gleamed with pride, as my little baby instantly grew into a little boy. So sweet and so handsome. We got a certificate with his picture and a lock of hair, they only wanted an arm and a leg for it. Plus they had mispelled our last name ~ which rarely happens, lol. Then suddenly the excitement wore off as I noticed that the sides were completely uneven. And then it occurred to me, that the haircut wasn't much to brag about. I mean, it looked great, except for the unevenness, but I could have done what she did. Which happened to be an issue with Scott that I lost. He has been begging me and begging me to let him cut his hair. I didn't trust him. Well, I mean come on, he's never cut anyone's hair before! No way am I going to let him take a pair of sharp scissors to Levi's head just days before his birthday!! But, after seeing his haircut, that, yes, did cost an arm and a leg, I realized that maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if he did cut it. However, I am glad we went to the kids salon. The experience was super fun ~ for me at least! Levi got to sit on the tractor and they even have those little kid capes! Too cute!! And well, what's done is done. Maybe we'll try Clubhouse Cuts for Kids and get there an hour earlier!!

Five More Days!!

Only a few more days 'til Levi turns 1!! Yay! A mommy can be so proud!! :) I'm so excited for the holidays this year!! I haven't truly started my Christmas shopping yet, but I have purchased a few items. I think once we get through Thanksgiving and Levi's birthday I will really get my shopping groove on!! Oh, and this year, I get to buy PINK!!! Yep, that's right! I'm having a niece! :) Remember my pregnant sister-in-law from a recent post? They found out on Friday that "it's a girl!" I'm so very excited and can't wait to go buy something PINK!!! :)

Here are some pictures from our recent at home photo shoot. He doesn't seem to be as photogenic as he once was. Well, I mean he is still the cutest ever, but just no million dollar shots lately. Maybe that will come back around when he can break away from the toys for at least 2 seconds!!!

Two Weeks and Three Days...

The countdown is ON!! Two weeks and three days until Levi turns 1! Wow, I can hardly believe it! I've had so much fun planning his party. Just the thought that I have had him in my life for just one year is amazing. It goes so fast, but yet I can't remember my life without him!

Here's something new ~ Levi knows how to do the sign for "please"! It's the first one that he's done on his own. We practice several different signs, but this one he does all on his own!! It's so sweet. I'm not sure he knows the meaning of "please" and when to use it, but that won't take long for him to learn! I'm just so proud of him! :) He is very close to doing the signs for "all done", "more", and "book". Sign language is so fun because you get to see how their little minds work! They know and comprehend sooo much more than you can imagine!!

Levi's front teeth have finally come through. Not completely, but they've started and boy do they look so cute!!! I think the most painful part is over. You can kind of see them in the picture below.

It won't be long until I am posting pictures of Levi's birthday! Stay tuned!

Do You Have A Minute?

Well, well, well. I've done it again. I've waited too long between posts and now I have alot to get you caught up on! So, I hope you have a minute...or two!!

Halloween was an experience to say the least and I learned a few things I will remember next year! Levi dressed as a dragon, a pretty darn cute one at that. However, the costume was hot and who would have thought it would be 70 degrees on the last day of October! He didn't have it on very long. Just long enough to take pictures.

A good picture of daddy and Levi

Grandma and Levi

The only family picture we could get!!

Mommy and Levi

Oh gosh, not again!

My beautiful (and pregnant) sister-in-law Nicole!

What the back of his costume looked like...p.s. he was crying not playing!

Pleeeeaaaase can we be done, mommy??

Just days before Halloween, Levi turned 11 months old! The countdown begins!!! The BIG ONE is on it's way!!! Levi has really grown over the past month. He claps now, says "mummum", pulls himself up to stand (and cheerfully falls on his bum!), gives fabulous slobbery kisses, and pushes trucks around everywhere!! He just had a check-up with the doctor and now weighs 19lb 9oz and is 29" long! We are looking for a new car seat as he is about to outgrow his old one. And unfortunaly, Levi has come down with an illness. For the past few days he has been coughing and it's getting worse. The poor little guy had a really rough day today and I am a little worried. I'm calling the doctor in the morning, he just doesn't sound good at all! And on top of it, his top two teeth are finally starting to break through the gums, but I have a feeling it will be a long time before the are completly cut through. :(

Here are some pics of him playing with his tractor...which used to be Scott's tractor that his grandma got for him.

And lastly, I leave you with some funny pictures! I had to grab my camera after I pulled the towel off Levi's head the other night after his bath! It was just too cute not to capture on film and I of course just had to share!!

Poor guy has a big forehead...wonder who he gets that from!!
