Mallory is almost crawling! Soon she will be in to EVERYTHING!! I keep thinking to myself that I only have a few more days until I have to keep my eye on her 100% of the time!! Especially since her big brother has so many little toys she can't play with!!
Also, today I took Levi to pick out his very own potty seat! Even though we already have 2 at home, I thought it would be a good idea for him to take ownership and pick out his own. The 2 seats we have are hand-me-downs...not that that matters, but neither one of them have a splash guard for little boys. We had a little talk and he was excited to go to the store to pick out a "big boy potty". I had to talk to him about what we do in the potty and that I wasn't going to buy it for him if he wouldn't pee in the potty. (Well in my eyes, at least TRY!) He agreed and we looked at all the potties. First he wanted the Lightning McQueen potty, but then he saw Elmo and he had to have it. It's a cool one and you give Elmo a high-five when you're done and Elmo cheers for you. It's cute. Then I let him pick out a toy that he gets when he goes pee on the potty. He picked some letters and numbers for the bathtub. So, when we got home we got really excited to open the box and take out the potty. He wanted to put it in the bathroom and was still excited about it. And then I asked him to take his britches off and sit on the potty. That's where the excitement stopped! I tried to be calm and encourage him gently to just try the potty and not put any pressure on him to pee. Finally he sat on the potty and told me "it's not working." He got up, and I put him back on there a few times, but it still wasn't "working". So, I said let's read a book and try it. Well finally he would at least sit on the potty for a while, but still nothing. No pee. :( Oh well, I'm going to keep trying!!!!
Another thing about Mallory is that she is not a very good eater. I've been trying to feed her solids since she was about 5 months old! At first she wouldn't even open her mouth for me. And if I tricked her and slipped some in her mouth she would gag and make the most awful looking face. I tried everything and just kept on trying thinking that in time she would get it. After a few weeks of throwing away baby food I decided to give it a break! Then after about 6 weeks I tried again, with not much progress. Eventually she started eating a little, but not really opening her mouth for me. She would just move her lips and try to eat the food. I haven't been real consistent on feeding her up until about a week or so ago, because she finally started getting the hang of it!! And when I say that, I mean she will open her mouth about 1 out of every 6-7 bites I try to give her!! It's not fun and I really don't have the patience, but I'm trying. Now, my mom must have a special touch because she can get her to eat an entire serving! I don't know how she does it!!! I know baby food is just practice for table food, so I'm not really worried, it's just kind of annoying. Especially when I have to throw food away. She is getting better, so I have hope!
Here's a cute video of her when she was rubbing her lips together to get the food! At the end she finally took a real bite!! It was one of her first "real" bites!!! :) I was so proud!!!
